Dr. Shyam Singhal
Visiting Faculty
BACKGROUND
Dr. Shyam has been in IT industry for nearly 30 years, and has worked across multiple functions in software delivery, like Pre-Sales, Delivery, Delivery Excellence, Application Outsourcing, CoE setup etc. In his last assignment
at Microsoft, where he had spent around 14 years, he was heading the delivery across US and Europe regions at India Global Delivery for one of the technology verticals, and most recently as Lead for Delivery Excellence India.
He is a learner by nature and loves to experiment with new ideas and workings. His doctorate topic (“Progressive Forecasting in Agile-Scrum Development Projects via Effort, Defects, and Story Points Based Predictive Models”) also
originated from a business problem. His research work resulted in a forecasting tool (using two ML models) for Agile projects. This tool was piloted across Microsoft Consulting Services globally and returned an accuracy of more than
93%. Applied Statistics, Business Analytics, Commercial Excellence, Optimizations, Lean Six-Sigma, Delivery Management, Estimation and Forecasting are few other subjects of his interest.
He graduated in Economics from Delhi University and completed his Executive MBA and Doctorate from SPJIMR and S P Jain School of Global Management, respectively.
At present, he has been working with an IT organization to setup their Digital Transformation, QE and AppDev practices, and has also been doing Independent Consulting, in his areas of interest, as listed above.
