Professor Nilakant is a New-Zealand based scholar of Organisational Behavior who specializes in Change Management. He is interested in the broad areas of organizational change, organizational resilience, and leadership. He has worked with a variety of organisations in New Zealand, India, Australia and Malaysia on management development around change-related issues.
His current research includes studying the human resource challenges in dealing with disasters, organizational learning in a multi-hazard context, and strategic consequences of organizational framing during disaster recovery. His work has been published in premier academic journals including, the Management Research Review, Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, Total Quality Management, Higher Education Management, Journal of Managerial Psychology, Journal of Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis. He has also co-authored three books on managing change – winning the Best Book Award on Change Management from the Indian Society for Training and Development and the Delhi Management Association.
Profesor Nilakant has experience teaching courses such as Organisational Behavior, Organisational Change, and Change Management. Prior to joining the University of Canterbury, he had been a faculty at the Tata Management Training Centre, Pune and a Fellow of the Public Enterprise Centre for Continuing Education, New Delhi. He currently also is faculty at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.
Nilakant Venkataraman holds an MSc from IIT-Kanpur, an MBA from IIM-Calcutta, and a PhD from Case Western Reserve University.
