Dr Bopaya M. Bidanda is the Ernest Roth Professor & Chairman, Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Pittsburgh.
His areas of interests include Manufacturing Systems, Automation, Reverse Engineering & Rapid Prototyping. As Chair of the department, Dr. Bidanda has played a key role in implementing many innovative academic programs that include flexible doctoral programs, the establishment of Pitt’s campus in Taipei to deliver M.S. Program in Engineering Management, and initiated the Engineering / Business program.
He has brought millions of dollars in research funding from federal and state agencies, as well as from foundations and the corporate sector.
Dr. Bidanda has served on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) and previously served as the Chair of the Council of Industrial Engineering Academic Department Heads (CIEADH).
He was a Principal at B2 Consulting Services, Pittsburgh, PA where he looked at software application development for information systems and wireless applications.
Dr Bidanda was a Consultant at Center for Economic Transformation, A. J. Palumbo School of Business, Duquesne University where he developed and conducted industry workshops on Administrative Process Improvement, Manufacturing Cycle Management, Warehouse Management & Inventory Control. He has been an Engineer at Hindustan Aerospace Limited, India, the largest aerospace manufacturer in Asia.
Dr. Bidanda holds a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University, an M.S. from Western Carolina University, and a B.S. from National Institute of Technology, (ex KREC – Surathkal), University of Mysore.
