Professor Dhillon is a UK-based economist whose research spans the fields of economic theory, politics and economics, government fiscal policy, and industrial organization. Her recent work has had shed light on the economics of European protest movements, three successive pro-democracy revolutions in Georgia/Ukraine/Kyrgyzstan, government debt restructuring and recovery in Argentina, and political-party formation in India.
Her writings have appeared in leading scholarly journals, including Journal of Economic Theory, Social Choice and Welfare, Econometrica, Journal of Public Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behaviour, International Journal of Game Theory, Journal of Development Economics, and International Journal of Industrial Organisation.
Professor Dhillon has held visiting faculty appointments at Paris School of Economics, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Indian Statistical Institute, Northwestern University, Queens College, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton. She has served as a Ph.D. admissions tutor, organized numerous international conferences and workshops in her field, and consulted for the World Bank.
Amrita Dhillon holds a Master’s from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph.D. from The State University of New York at Stony Brook.
