Unveiling of MYRA’s foundation stone by Shri Deepak Parekh, Chairman HDFC

The avant-garde and architecturally acclaimed campus of the MYRA School of Business was inaugurated on November 4th, 2012. The theme of the event was the idea of “Change” – which is in line with MYRA’s mission to empower future business leaders to be the change they wish to see.

Padma Bhushan Deepak Parekh, Chairman of HDFC, officially inaugurated the MYRA campus in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the lighting of the lamp and the unveiling of the Inaugural Stone.

The ceremony also included speeches by Professor Shalini Urs, Chairperson - MYRA School of Business ; Professor Rajiv Sinha – Dean, MYRA School of Business ; Dr. Sunil Sharma, Director – International Monetary Fund Regional Training Institute, Singapore ; Professor Mohan Gopalakrishnan of Arizona State University ; Professor Raghav Rao of University at Buffalo, SUNY ; and Kantharaj Urs, Trustee and Treasurer – MYRA School of Business.

Professor Shalini Urs gave a warm welcome to the enthusiastic audience, spoke about her long-term vision for MYRA, and introduced the distinguished guests who were seated on the dais.

Professor Raghav Rao shared his thoughts on the need for a re-thinking of management education in India due to dramatic shifts in technology and the social environment.

Professor Mohan Gopalakrishnan spoke about how MYRA embodies, through its faculty, innovative curriculum, and avant-garde campus, the spirit of “change”.

Indian and international academics were in attendance, along with corporates, public figures, prospective students and the community at large – all of who enthusiastically came together to witness MYRA’s transition from the phase of bold vision into successful reality.

It was a historic celebration and a notable day not only in the life of the MYRA School of Business, and Mysore, but throughout the whole landscape of higher education in India.

Kantharaj Urs gave the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the trustees of MYRA. He gave special mention to the architects, who designed the building being formally inaugurated on that day.

The formal inaugural function was followed by an enthralling musical performance of Raja Vadya Goshti.
